With any luck, we will have a fun day of barbless catch & release fishing for wild rainbows on the West Fork of the San Gabriel River. Tables, chairs and an outhouse are available at the PBC cabin. Anglers are responsible for their own beverages, lunch, and all fishing gear including flies.


Weather forecast is good. NOAA says we can expect a sunny day with a high of 81. That said, it will be chilly first thing in the morning and later in the afternoon when the sun goes behind the mountain. Dress accordingly.

We will drive to the PBC cabin which is about four and a half miles upstream. However, due to parking considerations, we need to limit the number of cars to three or four. Carpooling is the rule of the day. (Cellphone coverage ends a short distance out of Azusa.)


Also, once we are in the canyon, the gate is locked behind us. So we all have to arrive at the same time. (We will rendezvous at the Jack In The Box in Azusa.)

And we have to leave at the same time as someone has to drive down and open the gate.


We will probably stay until 4:00 or so depending on the fishing.

Sunday morning, we will rendezvous at the Jack In The Box in Azusa at 9:00 AM:

 

From the I-210 E/Foothill Fwy take Exit 40 for Azusa Ave/CA-39.
Turn  left onto Azusa Ave/CA-39 N.
Almost immediately after you go under the freeway you will see the Jack In The Box on your right (126 N Azusa.)
We will caravan up to the gate (eleven miles) from JITB. Cell phone reception ends as soon as you enter the canyon. The gate is locked so we must all arrive (and leave) at the same time.


This outing is contingent on stream and weather conditions.
